It's a Squirel, no it's a Possum, no it's a Racoon

The other night when I had just finished bathing the kiddos, I came downstairs to grab something and looked out our front window. There were some kids in our neighbors yard holding something and all looking on very intently. I asked them what they had, to which they replied "A Baby Squirel!" I told the girls to come down stairs, because I knew they would absolutely love to see this! They came running down stairs and were able to hold the baby. It still had it's eyes closed and made little wimpering sounds. Totally helpless. They were so excited!! They told everyone that passed our house about it. One man walked by and said that it was a baby possum, and then I got really grossed out, I hate possums, YUCK!! So they were able to hold it until Daddy got home. Then our neighbors arrived home and the lady said she better take it and give it some kitten formula and take it to a place for orphaned animals. The girls were sad to see it go.
Our neighbor reported back to us that it was actually a racoon, and sure enough there was the mother up in the tree, I had no idea that racoons burrowed in trees?? So it was really fun for the girls to watch the mother in the tree. They would has several times a day to go watch the racoon:) What a fun experience:)
