On Thursday we went to the D.C temple. We hadn't planned on it....I got a call from Josh and he asked if I was up for being spontaneous. I said sure???? Elder Neilson was going to speak to all of the Dental and Medical students at the visitors center. I thought it was a neat experience so we quickly got ready, grabbed Wendy's and took off to DC in the pouring rain. Josh arrived 5 minutes after he had started talking, phew:) The kids had fallen asleep so I stayed in the van with them. When they woke up they wanted to touch the temple. So I drove up and they hopped out of the van, huge smiles on their faces and continued to caress the temple. As I watched them I felt the spirit so strong, I even started to tear up. Here they are 3 and 5 years old and never been inside the temple, BUT they know the importance of it, they can FEEL the importance. I am so blessed to have two beautiful daughters of God!!! They make me laugh every day and teach me a lot. It was so cute to watch them touch or I would say caress the temple...what a precious moment! And I thank my Heavenly Father for that tender mercy, a moment where there weren't any distractions just my beautiful girls and the temple, a moment where I wasn't thinking of things I needed to get done, a moment to just watch and revel in my girls. A reminder that I need to slow down more often and really just enjoy moments like these without all the distractions of life that seem to cloud our lives. It was a wonderful experience for Josh and the group even recieved an apostolic blessing. The kids and I went in after it was over and they we were able to shake his hand. It was worth the spontaneous drive to D.C.

That is so awesome! Way to drop your life and go for it. They might not remember this trip, but your kids will always remember how important the Temple is when you do things like this.
OH - what a wonderful moment! It is so sweet when the kiddos have those moments - and us moms too. The temple really is a beautful symbol itself, isn't it?!
I love this story. Thanks for sharing. I miss you and adorable family. There's just no place like Virginia. My heart is definitely there, wishing I were with you, hanging out, doing crafts, and being silly. Did you see New Moon...Amazing.
